computer freeze up since installing new windows xp

My computer freezes up a lot. I installed a new complete
home version windows xp on my computer and computer
freezes up often. I had a local computer technican come
to my house and had computer checked out and was told
everything was O K. He didn't find anything that can
freeze up to my computer. Maybe someone out there may
know of something that can cause freeze ups. If so, I
would like to know if there is some kind of fix for
problem.

Thanks,
John J.

It could be either a software or hardware failure, but
without more details it's very difficult to say. When
you installed Windows XP again, did you simply reinstall
Windows over the existing installation or did you format
your hard drive and then reinstall? Formatting and
reinstalling would indicate a greater likelyhood that the
problem is a hardware issue. Particularly if it happens
before installing other software. Have you installed any
new hardware recently? Memory? Bad memory or mismatched
memory could certainly be a cause. Bad sectors on your
hard disk could be a cause as well.

If you can provide additional details it would be helpful
in finding a possible solution.
