Computer does not recognize my drives.

I have 2 drives (a CD writer (E:) and a DVD rom (F:)). And when ever I go to
“My Computer†I can’t see those 2 drives. And when I insert a CD into these
drives and I want to open it, I can’t; so what should I do?

It didn't help, it didn't change anything and plus I was lost from step 6 to
9. I had 2 Volume {GUID}, and I changed the drive type / value data of both
of them to “2†and still didn't change anything. And plus its not that my
CD-RW drive is not recognized as a recordable device, it’s not recognized at
all.

And the second link didn’t help either.

That link didn’t help, it didn’t change anything, and I still can’t see my 2
drives.

I've had the same problem for a while. I am still looking for a solution.
But one thing that did help a little is just by getting "spybot search and
destroy" and getting rid of the adware on your comp. Now my dvd drive is
recognized sometimes. But It hasn't solved the problem.

This may sound funny....
Have you tried refreshing the hardware drivers under system in your control
panels folder? Remember START them Control Panel then double click on system
then the Hardware Tabb then Device Manager.... it is there or your showing
a Yield or a ? then you have problems...... if you have installed software
for these try rolling back the Driver.
under IDE ATA/ATAPI you should have a Primary a secondary and the Buss
controller driver software that came with your motherboard.
Always s a good Idea to install it...... saves a Host of problems.....
