Computer crashing

J

Juco

Using Win XP pro.

Over the last few weeks my PC has started to crash I am not too clever at
this side of things but hopefully
some of the list below might give somebody a clue....

My C drive is only about 20% full.
I have run Spybot/Adware/Window washer to clean up and empty temp files etc.
I have defragmented hard drive.
I have compressed old files.
At first I did get some error message which I didn`t quite understand but
think possibly something to do with `dump file` (maybe this needs reset? ,
if so how?)
It seems to crash (it just closes down and restarts (so no error meassage
now)..not freezing)
It normally happens when I using a form of picture editing either MGI suite
or photoshop.(if I open a picture in photoshop it goes as far as loading
(photoshop) then the PC just closes and restarts)
I have reinstalled photoshop but no better.
I have not added any new programmes.

Any help appreciated
thanks

Try rt clicking on MyComputer>select Properties>Advanced>Startup and
Recovery-Settings>Uncheck Automatically Restart. Also, there may be some
help at MGI and Photoshops website. Look for their Knowledge Base or FAQ.

This is the message I got when it crashed tonight.
I tried the Computer/properties etc Rich ...no change.

This is from a message that appeared, it may not be accurate in terms of
symbols etc.

The file object passed to cancel locancel file open is invalid. It should
have ref F1
The drive that locancel file open is at fault.

Technical info

stop: OX000000E8 OXFF4B1OFO,OX811B1108,OX000000000,OX000000000

Anyone got any ideas?
thanks
