Computer can't find my C drive?

When i start my computer up it can'y seem to find my hard
drive? I was wonderin if i re-installed windows XP Would
it help fix the problem and if so would all the files n
software that was on it still be there n working order?
 
Please define what you mean by it can't seem to find your hard drive, any
error messages, any messages at all?
