Compression and IE6 SP2

Hi there,

I am running IE Version 6.0.2900 with SP2. Recently, compression was enabled
on webSEAL for our java application and we immediately experienced blank
pages for one of our applications. We found a similar issue in Microsoft KB
and implemented the following as a workaround:

1. On the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Internet Options.
2. Click the Advanced tab.
3. In the Settings box, scroll down to the Security section, and select the
Do not save encrypted pages to a disk check box.

Upon implementing the above, we were able to run the application i.e. no
more blank pages. Unfortunately, we were then unable to download, save, view
or export files from the application. The message was "Internet Explorer
cannot download ... filename.ext from server address"

Again, we think found a similar issue in Microsoft KB (Article ID : 837251)
for the above but it was mentioned that it is only applicable for those on
IE6 SP1.

Has anyone else experienced the same thing in IE6 SP2? Seems like the issue
is not fully fixed in SP2. I am not able to upgrade to IE7 since there are
other applications that will not work on IE7 at the moment.

Appreciate any comments/feedback I can get on this matter.

Try using FiddlerTool to refine your symptom description.
