Page not loading completely under IE6/7

Running XP SP2 and have intermittent problem with IE6 or IE7. The pages do
not load completely. For example, the left side of a home page will not show.
Mozilla shows everything. In addition, installing IE7 is not completed - the
desktop icon is not created. There is a script error on startup but no data
is available.

There was a similar problem with Search and Help. - the windows were blank.
The cure was to run regsvr32 for jscript and vbscript using Knowledge Base
256986. I think IE has the same problem. Any solutions?

Right click a blank spot on the desktop and choose Properties | Desktop |
Customize Desktop to put the IE icon on the desktop.
