compress old files

The compress old files function is not working in my disk cleanup program. It
is set to 1 day and the box is checked. Is there something else I need to do
or check?

Personally, I turn off that function. With as cheap as large capacity
harddrives are today, you are better off buying a larger HD, than
compressing a sh*t-load of old files.

I have the same problem. And in response to Kuttrail, this is on my laptop.
I don't really care to purchase a bigger hard drive, I just want the
compression to work.
