How to turn off "compress old files?"

Laurel

At some point I chose "compress old files." I thought it was in the
"Accessories/system tools/disk cleanup" program. But if I choose that it
just goes off doing someting - no choices and it says "compress old files."
Where was I when I was able to choose whether they should be compressed or
not? How can I turn this off so "Disk Cleanup" won't do it?

You have the place right but perhaps you didn't wait?
It calculates first, then you get the option to check/uncheck
"Compress old files"

Yup, that was exactly it. Thanks.

I can add to my earlier post.

I have never right clicked on the C drive to run Disk CleanUp. My
usual way is to select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools,
Disk CleanUp, except that it appears usually as one of the frequently
used programs immediately above the Start button. The option to
uncheck or check Compress old files appears as an option using the
first option but not the second.

Just another Microsoft oddity to confuse users!
