Compatable printer

We are running Windows 2000 server and one of my users wants to start using
TS. I want to set up printing ofr him at home and I've heard that remote
printing can be difficult to configure. Are there any printers that are
better than others for this? He only needs a basic inkjet and will buy any
model that will work.

Any printer that has a native driver on the server is tested with TS
and will work.
Native driver means: it's in the list of printers which comes with
the OS on your server.

Hi Vera,

We are running Windows 2000; drivers that come with it are all for printers
that have not been sold for 5 years. How can I use a printer that is on the
market now?

If you use a printer that's on the market now, and you're unwilling to
purchase an EMF or PDF Based Printing program like ThinPrint, Simplify
Printing, Print-IT, UniPrint... then you MUST purchase a PCL or PS compatible
printer, NOT LIDIL, as LIDIL will NOT work w/o an EMF/PDF Based Printing
Solution.

Once you have the printer selected and working on the client you can map it
to a server driver using a user defined inf file and registry entry on the
server (or use the Printer Redirection Wizard from MSFT)

HP DeskJet or PhotoSmart Printers generally work better than others, using

Avoid Officejets! The scanning functionality seems to be incompatable with
Terminal Services, or at least that's what HP is saying.
