Printers that do not clog up

D

Daniel Prince

Are there any inkjet printers that do not clog up? Would I be
better off getting a laser printer? Do laser printers have problems
with infrequent use? Are they more reliable than inkjet printers?

What problems?

Grey print/grey background
Residual images
Faint or blank areas of print, usually verrtical, when toner is low, Variable print
density across the page
Reguarly placed blotches/Randon blotches

Here's a start, find you own...

Most common reasons are paper coatings, self adhesive paper and photo quality paper.

Any examples?

That's not easy nut look away from retail printers and look at pro-sumer and commercial
printers.

Usenet has multiple RFC on signatures. Since you couldn' look up the information to my
replaied post, and I had to answer it, I'll bring this sup as well.

While you have incorporated the correct Usenet signature delimimeter, Usenet signatures
shouldn't be longer than four lines.

Canon inkjets do not clog. I have been using Canon printers for the past ten years for photos, and
only get them out once or twice a year to do a marathon photo printing session. I have never had one
clog, even after sitting for months of without being used.

I would not touch a Canon if you paid me to, utter Crap Bubble jet that
the heads burn out, go Epson any time, as least they do make
professional Ink Jet printers that can use any type of ink.

Never heard of anyone experiencing a clogged Canon. That honour seems to belong to Epson.

Nothwithstanding; I wouldn't touch another Canon either, with their new teensey weensey cartridges
that at $70 a set, that are only good for no more than about 25 8x10 pictures.!!

Just bought a new laser printer last month: Laser Jet Pro 400 color M451NW. Absolutley super
printer!!

I'll call you on that - BS!

Used HPs, Cannons, Epsons, as well as a few others over the past 25
years. The only one that I ever had problems with was the Epson. You
obviously don't care about the color quality of things you print so keep
your 'any type of ink' along with your 'wonderful' Epson and shove them
where the sun don't shine!

How many colours ink can Cannon use, I just picked up as new a Epson
R390 that had been in storage for 2 years after I replaced a faulty
Cartridge in printed from the Original fitted Ink Cartridges from the
day it was new, I only paid $20nz for it.

I have services many printers but you do know how to use a Epson, How
many Top grade A3 or larger printers do Cannon make that use 6-8
Colours..? with none Water based Inks.?

It's a typical Roger rant.
He is wrong more often that I have had hot dinners and he constantly misleads
others with what I believe is deliberate intent.
I have to say I have seen Canon printers with burnt out printheads but for
every one I have seen, I have seen 20 Epson printers with clogs that were
difficult and often impossible to clear.
If Roger knew anything about printers he would understand why Epson printers
clog. Piezo electric printheads produce terrific results but are prone to clogs
and Epson printers use much more ink in cleaning than Canon pronters do.
Tony

Posted from some one that does not even know how to use a Printer or
even serviced one, take you vindictive rants to the garbage bit on where
they belong.

I have a simple tool that can unclog a print head in min's, and it just
a solvent pad you place under the parked print head.

I had a Early Model HP that the print head would clog up every week.

And how come I just brought a Epson R390 that had been in storage for 2
years that printed strait away for the Original fitted Epson cartridge,
but after replacing a faulty cartridge had a dud chip.

A 6 Colour printer.

Do Canon even make A3 or bigger paper format with 8 Colours..?

I have to say that I've used a Canon S9000 printer for the past ten
years with little problem. The odd clog, perhaps, cleared by nozzle
cleaning cycles. I've used a mixture of Canon and Jet-Tec inks, and am
still producing club winning quality work.

I can't speak for more recent printers, of course!

Can only agree. Epson printers that aren't worked several days a week
seem to clog, which is why I will NOT consider buying another inkjet
from them. We're burning through a fair frew reams of paper here, but
sometimes the thing sits for a fortnight and that can be enough for an
Epson to give trouble.

I am very happy with Canon. Not only is the print quality good, the
install, drivers, and software-related downtime is miles ahead of HP,
who seem to hire people like Roger to write their drivers. And I'm a
long time HP user....
I left HP behind when they refused to fix a printer that was barely out
of warranty "no parts!" and I was amazed at the ease of getting a
networked canon to work, hooked up to the router. The hp software
regularly needed a grease and oil-change at our system as well as on the
neighbour's -- the canon has worked flawlessly for 2-3 years now never
missing a beat.

Which is why my Epson Stylus CX5900 is heading to the wheelie bin. In
regard to Epson, there's clearly some madness to their method in making the
print head so inaccessible, because it gets clogged all the time. I can't
be bothered with such a poorly designed mechanism. A Canon sounds good.
My workmate has a Canon printer which has lasted him many years.

Unfortunately you are right. The Epson printhead design produces excellent
results but unless you print regularly it will clog and can be a challenge to
clean without removal which as you point out is a complex operation.
There used to be a regular poster here (Arthur Entlich) who produced some
excellent advice on cleaning Epson printheads. Canon printheads can burn out
but it is not a common occurence, at least they are simple to replace which can
be cost effective with their more expensive models.
Tony

You can clean a Epson print head in a few min's with a solvent pad
placed under the head at the parking station

How is it that I just got a R390, R360 is the US/UK model had been in
storage for 2 years, it had a faulty cartridge replaced that and it was
printing from its Original installed Ink cartridges, 82N are a low fill
one sold in the new printers.

F

Frank Williams

Maybe you are a very lucky person, you found the only Epson printer ever made
that allows easy cleaning of printheads.
Or maybe you are simply delusioned; come to think of it, based on your past
record of rudeness and terrible advice that sounds most likely the reason you
have posted this nonsense here.

Tony

No Facts I have had 4 Epsons the heads are easy to clean on all of them,
you just dont have a clue.

But can it do real Photo prints..?

Sorry. My comment was badly worded; and there was no intent to suggest that my new colour LaserJet
was in any way intended at a replacement for my current (MG5220) Canon Inkjet, although I have to
admit that is does a pretty good magazine quality print. And that works well for me. The one thing
my 7 year old grandson enjoys doing when he spends a day with me, is to print out colour pictures of
dinosaurs, along with pictures he has taken on my old digital camera during the day. The colour
laserjet is absolutely perfect for that kind of evdeavour. :)

With $5000 invested in all the Canon goodies via cameras and mostly wonderful lenses like the 70-200
f2.8 IS, etal; I approach my photographic pursuits rather seriously. And the quality of Canon
inkjets easily meets my needs in an exemplary manner. It's just that I am reluctant to toss
accolades in the direction of their new grinchy teensy weensy ink cartridges, fashioned to dig even
deeper into our pockets! :-( I think they have now reached point where they have gone TOO far in
squeezing their customers! :) And I am at the very least, express my discontent.

I usually only retrieve my Canon inkjet from storage after Christmas, to print up selected pictures
from the annal collection of downloads. It's sort of an annual ritual along with doing income tax.
But even after sitting for a year, I 've never experienced so much as clogged nozzle; although I
expect a bit of cartridge ink has evaporated over the year.

Although Canon tends to piss me off from time to time, I am still stuck with using Canon as the very
best photo printer out there! :-(

They must be really reliable !

geoff

No its me that's reliable, I know how to drive them, being a Eng I
prefer the Technology in the Epsom Print Heads, my first Printer was a
HP with the print head in the Cartridge, and that gummed up all the
time.

I only use the Epson for Photo prints, Cards and CD/DVD's

But This Brother is my main printer .HL 2040

I have a $2nz brother that I picked up at a Tip recycle center, it was
just low of Toner, all you need to do is to reset a lever and bock up
the sensing holes, then some months back got a new Toner for $10
at a Oc shop.

Plus reset some counters.

To me its totally Stupid to use a Ink jet for BW printing.

Even in a situation where you have space for just one printer? Or, in your opinion, is it totally Stupid to be in such a situation?
