I turned off the computer normally last night. But when
I just turned it on, it would give the option of start in
safe mode, normally, last saved settings etc., for some
reason. Then no matter what setting I choose, after 10
secs of attempting to boot windows XP, it restarts
automatically and the cycle continues. I have tried all
the options...'start in safe mode...with network
support...last good setting etc..' but no positive
results. Norton's virus definitions are up-to-date,
cause they get downloaded weekly automatically.

Any idea how to solve this prob?

Boot to the recivery console either thru your boot.ini
menu (if RC is installed on harddrive) Or boot the
XP cdrom directly and choose the recovery console.
Do a chkdsk /r and see if that finds any errors.

Sounds like the blaster virus.
download the fix from microsoft- or get a friend to download it, disconnect
from the internet and install the fix.
