It could be other reasons such as-
Heavy start up list - remove the ones which are really not necessary from the loading at startup. Low HD space- run a disk cleanup, clean the temp files etc, its possible your drive needs to be defragmented, if its severly fragmentd, programs may respond slow and system will also slowdown. start>accessories>system tools>disk defragmenter. Check your drive for errors bfore that. some useful links on troubleshooting a slow system http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/slowcom.htm http://www.microsoft.com/AtWork/getstarted/speed.mspx/
There are a number of things you can try: defrag your hard drive, clean out
your C:\WINDOWS\Temp file, trim your startup list (or close down running
programs you don't immediately need), update your drivers, even uninstall
some programs to free up disk space.
