Is there a way to add other folders to the "Other Places" folder in the
common task pane? This would be very helpful.

thanks,

You can't add to the 'Other Places' list. But if you don't use the Shared Documents folder, you can 'hijack' its link by editing the path for the "Common Documents" value under this registry key:

"HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders"

Whatever folder you point this to will show in the other places list, as well as under 'My Computer'.

Good Luck,
Keith

You can modify the five that are offered. The easiest way is to
download and run Tweakui, one of the MS Powertoys.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

Run it and Expand the Common Dialogs | Places Bar section. Tic the
"Custom Places Bar" option and make the desired changes.

Um, Rock, the OP was asking about "Other Places" in the Common Tasks
pane. I have a customized Places Bar, and they aren't the same.
