Common Reception Error

R

Rubik

After browsing through this newsgroup, it seems that quite a number of
people are encountering the "reception error" problem. I hope we can find a
solution to this. I myself have this problem. My company receives an average
of 20 faxes a day, and 10 of them ends up "reception error" . It is mind
boggling. What's worst is that sometimes, the same sender can get through,
some times they can't. My sympton is, my USR 56k modem picks the call up,
and tries to communicate, and then fails and "reception error" shows up.
Does ANYONE have a fix for this ?

Is your modem on the hardware compatibility list? MS Shared
fax seems to be very sensitive to this. I had nothing but
problems with several USR modems then I switched to
Multitech and reception problems decreased quite a bit.

Someone else suggested setting the "maximum port speed to
19200" and this eliminated the vast majority of our
remaining reception problems.
