Command Prompt - CHKDSK

David Johnson

When running CHKDSK, verifying files and folders, I get
an error message:
Windows founds errors on the disk, but will not fix them
because disk checking was run without the /F (fix)
parameter. \WINDOWS\Prefetch\CHKDSK.EXE-2CC4C59D.pf first
allocation unit is not valid. The entry will be
truncated.
When I run CHKDSK with the /F parameter, I get the
message:
Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another
process. Would you like to schedule this volume to be
checked the next the next time the system restarts? (Y/N)
I answer "Y" and restart but no error message or fix is
indicated. How do I correct this error?

Run chkdsk within Windows, by selecting disk properties,
tools. It will let you check boxes for what you want to do.
Reboot and allow it to run chkdsk before Windows boots and
the drive is not unavailable.
