My command.com file seems to be corrupted. When I try to open it, I get the
"16-Bit MS DOS Subsystem" error message.
Is there a fix for this?

I do not believe that "command.com" exists in XP. I know that "cmd.???"
exists.

Both cmd.exe and command.com exist. Command.com is there for
compatibility purposes, but cmd.exe is the one which should
normally be used.

As command passes all commands to cmd for execution, which makes using command rather pointless.
