comd checksuum errror

hi i got a brand new hp laptop when i put in the windows set up cd
,windows was installed and it worked for 2 hours when i switchewd the
laptop odd and started it again i am now getting the msg :c0000221 bad
image checksum ,the image comdlg32.dll is posssibly corrupt the header
checksum does not match the computer checksum please help its a brand
new laptop

umh... Brand new laptops come with the operating system pre-loaded. What did you do with the setup CD???
Did you select something to re-install Windows?
(and BTW, tell us if this is Home or PRO edition, and whether it is Windows XP with service pack 2)

Did the laptop even come with this specific CD, from HP??

How long have you had the laptop? (eg, is it just recently purchased in past few days or so)

If may suggest you select Last Known Good configuration, but before I do, I'd like to find out how all of this happened.
