comcast email

when opening or changing emails in comcast email (cable
broadband isp), the screen opens verrry slow - "washes
down - like pulling a window shade down", then after
several seconds wait, comes up. Also, only when in
comcast email, scrolling is very slow. It does this
every time i'm in my email (comcast that is - Hotmail &
yahoo mail are ok); all other websites and windows
programs seem to be fine.

Received LapTop on 10/22/03; connected to Internet on
10/25/03. Problem existed from beginning and has not
changed.

Computer is a NEW Dell Inspiron 8600 LapTop: Pentium M
1.7 Ghz Processor / 1 GB RAM / 60 GB Hard Drive 7200
rpm / Windows XP Professional / using Internet Explorer /
on AC power or battery - same problem.

Also have a Gateway Desktop PC - using same cable modem
(thru a Linksys WRT54G wireless router) : also 1.7 Ghz
Pentium 4 processor / 40 GB hard drive / 256 RAM /
windows XP Professional / Internet Explorer.

On the PC - all comcast screens "pop" right up - no
problem.

Plugged the desk top monitor into the LapTop - the slow
wash down and scrolling problem happens on the desk top
monitor.

Have re-installed / downloaded the video driver; and XP
Service Pack 1 - No improvement.

Have talked to Dell Tech support 2 different times -
couldn't solve it. I may call them again.....

But maybe someone on this site has some insight.

Much Thanx,
Rodger

WTF are you talking about? Comcast provides an e-mail account, yes,
but I use Comcast and don't have a Comcast E-mail program. Are you
talking about logging onto your comcast.net webpage, then clicking the
mail button? I do that at work from time to time and never have
problems, occasionally try it at home (just did as a matter of fact)
with no problems...it must be something with your box.

Incidentally, if you are talking about the Comcast Web Mail viewer,
why use it? Get an email program (if you don't want to fork over
money for Outlook, OE comes with XP, and there are several low cost
for free mail clients out there). They provide much more
functionality then the web page reader.
