Column: Create a Story from a Single Still Photo with Photo Story

I have a few questions about photostory for vladmir if he reads this thread
(or anybody else who knows):

Related to this article:

1. When making such a single picture photostory, how is the movie encoded?
Does it store only a single copy of the picture for all the pans or multiple
cropped copies are stored for individual pans.

Unrelated to the article:

2. Whats wrong with the profiles used for DVD. Why is the picture so blurry
when saved using these profiles.

3. Why is there a limit on time resolution in specifying the picture
duration. One can specify 2.2 secs but not 2.235. The latter form should be
acceptable when typed in... but it is rounded to nearest tenth of a sec. Why
? I want to match the picture durations with the beat of the background
music which is hardly ever exactly a tenth of the sec. Is there any
technical reason for this limitation ?

4. In an interview he mentioned that PhotoStory 3 supports plugin
architecture, where can I have more information about this.

Regards

I just downloaded photo story 3 and would like to use my T.V. as a monitor
for the slide show, but the photo's won't show up all I get is the music -
love the program and would like to share it on the big screen, but I can't

What profile should I use for the Axim X50v to view in full screen?
The standard PocketPC profile produced very small display. The 640 x 480
profile shows full screen but the video playback is very jerky. Thx!

Are you outputting to tv through your video card or did you create a dvd? I
assume your video card is outputting to TV. Make sure that you have Windows
Media Player 10 installed. Photo story uses a codec called Windows Media
Video 9 Image v2. There are utilities to see what codecs you have installed
on your machine.

http://www.moviecodec.com/questions/installedcodecs.html this page has two
programs to check for the codecs that you have.

JUST AGREEING WITH YOUR COMMENTS. I removed photo story 2 initially, but when
I discovered the new version did not have an option for VCD or DVD burning
re-installed it, only to find that PS3 does not recognize PS2 files!?
This is the only criticism I have on an otherwise amazing program. The loss
of quality using WMP10 to burn is a shame.
PLEASE let us know if a burning option is planned.

To get around this problem, for DVD burning, I saved my photos using the
"Profile for Computers 4 1024 x 768". I then burnt that file to a DVD using
Nero Vision Express. In Nero, I changed the burning setting to High Quality
and Progressive Scan. The resulting DVD was MUCH better than saving it as a
DVD in PS3.

Chris:
What or who is the source of the music in the demo vidio. I know it is
Mozart but who is the artist and where is the CD available from?

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem.

I think Microsoft should introduce a 640x480 20 fps mode in the options to
save your stories to be viewed smootly in full screen with our X50v. By the
way, I'm a little disappointed that the X50 just can't handle 640x480 30 fps
WMV in a decent way.

Did you already find a solution for our problem?

Ciao from Italy.

(ignore my name!) its brilliants. i would like know if save to screensaver
possible?

im grateful if you let me know.
cheers

Hello Vladimir,

I have used Phto Story 3 now for sometime and I think it's a great utility.
I would love to see a couple of changes and they are this.

I would like to globally change the delay times between pictures

and another option I would like is to synch a music track to the slide show,
so then the slides would be set by the length of the track.

Great piece of software,

Bernie the Bolt

As you have probably found, this cannot be done automatically in the current
version of Photo Story. However, if you're willing to get a little
advanced, you can follow the "Inside the wp3" guide on my site. The project
file is simply a .cab file and you could search and replace the default
duration (only a timesaver if you have a lot of photos).

I am running Windows XP Professional and MS Office 2002. When I highlight
jpeg pictures in Windows Explorer, right click, and choose Send To.. Mail
Recipient, there is supposed to be a choice to reduce the size of the
picture files (currently 1 MB or more). That dialogue box never comes up,
even though the help instructions suggest that it should (and it has for me
on other machines running Windows XP).

Does anyone have an idea how to turn this feature on or otherwise get it to
work?

Try this, maybe it will restore the option:

go to...Start / Run and type:

"REGSVR32 SHIMGVW.DLL"
(without the quotes)(Yes, there's
a space between 2 and S)

Click...OK.

A dialog box should report the following:

"DllRegisterServer in SHIMGVW.DLL succeeded"

This works pretty good, however I noticed when using large images (1 - 2
Meg) they appear fuzzy.
Is there a "Good, Better, Best" size for importing images/pictures
