Coded symbols box appears after the default WIndows loading screen

We have 3 computers on our home network. 2 computers (XpPro & XpHome) have
developed the following problem on Windows loadup. The computers boot, we
see the default WINDOWS XP loading screen, followed by a blank screen with a
rectangular box. This box has symbols in it menu bar and another coded
symbol in the upper left of the box in the subject area, followed by an OK
button at the bottom. If we click the X to close the program nothing
happens, if we click the OK button, windows proceeds to the Welcome screen
then loads to the desktop.

What is this box, how do we get of rid of it, and why did it happen on the 2
computers?

Any help and info would help, as this is very aggravating at each boot up.

Since this is happening on 2 of your computers it sounds like some sort of
software problem with software that is loaded on both of these computers. Why
don't you get some information for us.

First look into the Event Log of both computers and find Error entries that
are the same on both computers and then post these errors and their
corresponding Event #'s back to this thread. To get to the event logs go to
Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer. Look in the
Application and System sections for these errors.

Next what you can do for both computers is download HijackThis, run it, save
a log, and post the log back to this thread.

HijackThis: http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/index.php

When you post the information back here make sure to tell us what
informatoin is for what computer.
