cmdlines.txt & SP4

I am attempting to install SP4 via cmdlines.txt
incorporated with a riprep RIS image. I keep reading
conflicting information and am unable to ascertain where I
am supposed to install certain files.

I have read that the $OEM$ folder sits at both the I386
folder level and underneath the I386 level. I have also
read that if the RIS image is a sysprep image then you
should install the files in a \$OEM$\$1\Sysprep folder as
opposed to a \$OEM$ folder. I have been told this also
applies to Riprep images. Does anyone have any ideas
regarding these matters.

If you are using RIS you should create a $OEM$ folder at
the same level as the i386 folder. Create a $1 within the
oem folder and copy your sp4 stuff. I wouldn't bother
doing this though the more stuff you have in this path the
more stuff your installation has to copy for each
workstation which can add a lot of time to your
installation. The correct way to do this is to slipstream
SP4 into your setup files. Which basically means you
update the original setup files with the SP4 versions.
You will need to copy your i386 folder from a CD you can't
apply slipstreaming directly to a RIS installation.
Extract the SP4 to a path run UPDATE.EXE -s:<PATH OF THE
I386 Folder> Once you have done this create a new OS
install from rissetup. You could probably just overwrite
the original RIS installation files but I would backup
your *.sif files justi incase or you could create a new OS
image and assign your unattend scripts to this new SP4
image.
