cloning Windows 2K

Will Windows work the same, if I clone it onto another
hard drive, with different hardware, like Windows 98 did?

You cannot just ghost images of Windows 2000 -- first, you'll encounter
problems with multiple computers with the same SID (this problem also
occurred in NT).
