clock was 3 days fast when I booted up

I know this technically isn't an XP question but it's got me concerned. I
booted up and logged onto the net as usual, then realised that the clock,
which was showing the correct time, was showing the wrong date. It was the
23rd December but it was showing the 26th. It's the first time it's done
this, when I logged off the night before it was the right date (at least, I
think it was). Is this just a temporary glitch which means nothing, or a
sign of something else more serious, perhaps BIOS related? I have a Gigabyte
utility to update the BIOS via the net but haven't dared use it yet. I never
saw the need.

I will suggest you not to use that utility just for this cause. First of all,
you should check the Time Zone through Date and Time in Control Panel.
Secondly, if this continues to happen or you are asked to press F1 at the
POST screen and your PC is a few years old then you should go for replacement
of your CMOS Battery.
