Hi, I'm hoping someone knows what to do for this, thanks
in advance.
I have 1xp pro, 2 xp home, 2 win98se connected on a
simple network, dial up internet on xp home(server).
All ip addresses have been manually config'd.
The trouble is the other clients(machines) cannot use the
gateway on the server. the rest of the network is fine
and file transfer etc all works perfect.
One client machine also shows the gateway as being
present but ie6 does load pages and comes through with
the default server/dns error.

any thoughts? anything?
cheers

Since you've configured the IP addresses manually on the clients, make
sure to make all of these settings:

IP Address: 192.168.0.x (1<x<255)
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS Server = 192.168.0.

Thanks Steve, will give it a check over.
perhaps the error is the dns server address.
Should it be 192.168.0. as your reply states, I'm not
that familiar with dns so was expecting it to be
192.168.0.1 as is for the gateway. (Perhaps a eureka
moment) anyhow thanks again for your help. I'll post
again to show results.
