I have a AD domain with one global Site in witch site 5
DC`s.Each DC is Located in an remote office. I am noticing
that client machines in the remote offices are
authenicating a DC not in there remote location.
Is there away around this without creating sites in AD.

Why don't you want to create sites?
They are especially designed for that.
It is just like you want light on your car without using

John,

I am not sure if I understand correctly. Have you set up
five Sites in the Active Directory Sites and Services? I
amunderstanding that you did. However, it seems that
Jerome understands to the contrary.

First off, so that you can understand completely how
WIN2000 Domain Controllers are located, take a look at the
following MS KB Article:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-
us;247811

Assuming that you did set up Sites, there is a fix to this
situation. Please take a look at the following MS KB
Article:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-
us;306602

The part about NOT REGISTER GENERIC RECORDS would be the
key to your situation.

Also, please note that there is a way to change things so
that there is no Global Catalog Server necessary for your
clients to log in:

us;241789

HTH,

Cary
