Clicking on hyperlink does nothing

I recently got Bellsouth dsl for my internet connection.
For the first few weeks all was OK, but now if I get an
email that has a picture or phrase highlited ( double
click to go to that site) when I double click nothing
happens. I contacted BellSouth and they said it was a
problem with my browser. Any help?
