Clicking noises after antispyware runs

Microsoft AntiSpyware is set to run on my computer every
night at 2:00 am, but every night after the scan is
complete, my harddrive starts to make incessant clicking
noises that only stop when I either 1) restart the
computer, or 2) Enter sleep mode, and then re log-in.

Is this a known problem, or something that is only
happening with my computer? Any ideas what could be
causing this to happen? Thanks!

Hi

Clicking noise from a drive is alarming !
Maybe your drive is damaged and nearly a crash ?

- Back up all important files ! Burn to DVD, CD or copy to another
drive.

- During a scan MSAS uses processor and harddrive intensive and
maybe a "housecleaning" can solve this problem.

- Download CCleaner, www.ccleaner.com and remove all temporarily junk.

- Defragment your drive, My Computer, Right click on drive > Properties
and tab tools.

As suggested in the threads below, I`m afraid the
prognosis doesn`t sound very good. To verify the integrety
of your HD you could try running CHKDSK /r from the CMD
prompt. This will mark any bad sectors you may have and
attempt to recover the data from those sectors. But first,
if possible, I would strongly suggest backing any personal
data you may have in the My Docs folder etc.

Good luck
