Antispyware beta

I just downloaded and tried to run antispyware beta. It stops at the same
spot and does not continue scanning. The spot it stops at is
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\WinTools.

When the scan reaches this point the hourglass icon appears, but nothing
happens and I have to restart the computer.

Hi patrick;

Your report is the second of WinTools detection, possibly a false positive...
what signature definition do you have installed? 5781 is current. Have you
upgraded to MSAS .701 (help, about msas)?

Download ewido, ad-aware and spybot through download.com. When installing
ewido, remove the checkmarks on the Additional Options screen. When
installing spybot, don't install immunization, or you can turn it off once it
has been installed. Update every app. Boot to Safe Mode and run a scan with
one app, remove what it finds, and move on the another until all three have
been used.

This should fix the problem. It's likely due to the spyware altering the
security of the registry key(s) that MSAS is trying to scan.

Ignore my previous post, sorry. Please follow Alan's recommendation to remove
WinTools.
