Clearing temp files crashes 2 part question

It seems like everytime I try to clear my temporary internet files(and
offline content), the window crashes/becomes nonresponsive/turns solid
white.

First it seems fine and whenever you mouse over the Internet Options window
the mouse turns into an hour glass but then after waiting a while if you try
to click another tap or ok or something the window caption shows (not
responding).

Why or am I just not waiting long enough? How long is long enough? and what
is the recommended setting for temp folder size? How many MB?

1.8ghz xeon
1gb ram
15GB free disk space

Set the TIF folder size to about 50 MB. That's large enough for most
purposes. The freezing could indicate corruption in the TIF folder. Delete
the entire folder, see: http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

Okay great, I've been wondering what the default size was cause it always
seemed different from pc to pc.

one of my other comps had it at 1.5 gb which is rediculous. I'll set it down
and hopefully that will work out better.
