Clear area behind text on desktop icons?

Hi,
Using xp and i know you can have it clear behind
the text of the desktop icons.
I went to properties, appearence and effects and
unchecked shadows under icons and that didn't
do anything.
How do you make it clear?

Go to System properities in Control Panel under Advanced, Performance there
is a list which among other things, will give you "Show drop labels on
Desktop Icons' just uncheck it.....
