Clear area behind text under desktop icons?

Hi,
Using xp and i know you can have it clear behind
the text of the desktop icons.
I went to properties, appearence and effects and
unchecked shadows under icons and that didn't
do anything.
How do you make it clear?

If that didn't work, right-click the desktop, point to Arrange Icons By and
make sure that Lock Web Items on Desktop is un-checked.

Right click My Computer, Properties, Advanced, Performance Settings, Custom,
scroll down and tick "Use drop shadows for icon ....". Apply
