clean install freezing

hey all,
i've deleted and created a new partition and the install gets to where it
copies all the setup file and then does the reboot automatically. well as
it's coming back up i see the windows logo and then just as it looks like
it's about to continue the install(you know where it says 39 minutes left).
it gets stuck. not on the windows logo screen but right after that disappears.

any ideas?

thanks,
rodchar

Why did you need to do a clean install in the first place? Was there a
problem? Usually problems with installs at this stage are due to a hardware
issue.

I think I found what the problem was. I had added a cheap internal usb 2.0
pci card and when i took that out the install started working again.

About the clean install...the pc was cluttered with trial software and stuff
and for me personally, if i'm helping a friend or somebody troubleshoot their
pc I'm usually the last resort because i will not spend more than 5 minutes
troubleshooting someone else's pc (that i have no clue what they've been
doing on it) and i figured if they asked me then i'll do it the way i want to
do it. i'm not the best troubleshooter but i know how to do a clean install,
or i thought i did until this post. anyway, and make absolutely sure they
know what that involves. so it only takes me a consistent amount of time.
crazy i know.

I asked because if the reinstall was done because of problems that might be
hardware related then that could also be the cause of the current problems.
I'm glad to see you found the problem. It is often best to remove all
peripherals and do the install on a bare bones system then add the other
devices one at a time. Thanks for posting back with an update.

Disabled "anti-virus" in the bios?
