Classic Theme to XP Theme

Currently running XPP w/ SP2. My default theme is classic. When I try to
switch to the XP theme, I get a please wait box then display properties pops
up (barely legible as it is mostly greyed out). Hourglass runs and runs so I
pull the plug on the machine. On boot up the theme is changed to XP.
Switching back to classic is quick and works fine. I think this problem
started after SP2.

Additional info: 1) thems is running in admin services 2) nothing in
MSCONFIG unhcecked which should be causing this 3)
System/Advanced/Performance is runing in Let Windows Choose mode (which shows
all boxes checked). Also I run the Nvidia Quick Tweak Program (came with
driver version 1.5.30 MSFT Certified). I do not think it is the video drivers
nor the Nvidia program.

SP2 bug? HAve seens some posts on Google complaining about this but not
enough to determine if MY problem is fixable.

Please do not respond with patches or work arounds which would disable one
or the other (XP or Classic). Want this to work for both w/o having to shut
down the computer to make the change. Perplexed but also p*ssesd at MSFT.

No problem here switching, just as fast in either direction. Might be
the display driver. Update to the latest one from Nvidia's website.
