"Class not registered"

I've been trying to install McAfee Spamkiller 5.0, but the
installation will not run. I keep getting the error
message "Class not registered." What is a class? How
does one register it? I've tried all sorts of things with
McAfee tech support, but I'm becoming persuaded that the
problem is with Windows. I've also booted to a Windows CD
and run the repair function, but it seems to make no
difference.
Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks in advance.

Does it give you a filename at all? Like, something with a .dll, .ocx, or
other extension?

No, it does not give me any filename or extension. When I
close the "Class not registered" message box, it is
succeeded by another message that says "An error occurred
while installing McAfee Security HTML dialog component."
Then the installation program terminates.

Only that some other A-V or registry protector type program running
during install might account for this error.

Have you tried a McAfee forum?
