Class not registered???

Ausi Drew

Have done the reinstall using .inf/I386 moviemk.ex_ routine and it now works
(thanks to this forum for the workaround) but ...

I now get this message "***.wmv could not be imported. Class not
registered." for all videos.

Using XP Pro SP3

Can anyone assist please.

Thank you.

Just a thought...have you installed WinAVI?

And the following link may be worth a look:

Movie Maker always has to close

Here's a link to a Google search that may
offer something useful:

"class not registered"
http://tinyurl.com/2v379o

Also might be worth a try to:

1. Install/reinstall Windows Media Encoder 9
2. Update Video drivers.

regsvr32 %windir%\system32\qdv.dll

================================

No guarantees...but it might be worth
a try to run the following command.

Go to...Start / Run...and type (or copy / paste)
the following...

regsvr32 %windir%\system32\qdv.dll
(yes, there's a space between the first 2 and %)

Press Enter.

You should see a dialog that says:

DllRegisterServer in C:\WINDOWS\system32\qdv.dll succeeded

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
John ... no toWinAVI.

.... and I am patiently trying the other options you presented.

However when I did the ".inf/I386 moviemk.ex_ routine" mentioned above to
get Movie Maker to stop shutting down all the time I did notice a pop up from
the system that said something about "you are loading/using 3rd party
drivers. Do you want to revert to original windows drivers?" and then when I
clicked YES, the next pop up prompted me to load SP3 CD ... which I dont have
of course because I updated via internet, and the pop up gave me no choice to
browse. Could this be the problem??

Thanks for your tireless input to this newsgroup by the way. Cheers.

Drew
