This error (class installer has denied...) can occur if the device
driver is not compatible with Windows XP. To solve this issue, install
a Windows XP compatible driver for the USB device (scanner).

Go to the scanner home page and find an XP-compatible driver for the
device. Here's a start:

I finaly solved this, the problem was caused by the new microsoft updater
tool, it was clashing with my epsom scanner/drivers, to resolve this issue i
had to restore my windows back to my oiginal install wherei had not installed
the new updater. thankfully i use norton ghost 2003(best program in the wold)
and had set an image of my windows with a few necessities ie
av/firewall,printer on so i could go back to then and my printer installed
first time.
