Cisco VPN Client makes Computer Crash

On my new WinXP SP2 machine, installlation of a Cisco VPN Client makes
computer crash. I tried different versions of the client, but the effect is
the same. When connecting, the screen turns black and the machine restarts.
This is what the log tells me about the error:

Sorry, this won't work because the Windows VPN client does not support group
authentication.
