Google Chrome has updated on my laptop and desktop and now if I look in settings I see this in the extensions

And this next to the address bar

Isn't that a bit naughty of Google to be installing Avast extensions without my permission ??

I would say you had, at one time, avast installed ... you do know that, uninstall does not actually, in some cases, uninstall.

Avast is known for its malware practices, as an AV program, in my book, should be shot!

Oh, and MSE isn't actually a better option these days. :)

My Google is clean of that particular browser extension.

Never had Avast installed on either of these computers. Both have always had MSE

Hmmm, then I don't know ... has Avast completely gone over to malware?

I'd be interested in what the Avast Removal Tool does.

I've also found that some Avast users are annoyed that Avast has been installing Chrome, without notice.

I ran the tool and it said it removed AVAST. I'd really love to know how it could have removed something that was never installed in the first place.

ah, sneaky install, huh! :)

Would you mind if I change the thread title to better reflect the problem.
