Chkdisk always runs on start

I have a Windows XP Home installation that runs chkdisk
every time it starts. I had to reload the OS for the
client due other errors and I hoped that the reload would
clear this problem also.

Chkdisk has been run with no errors detected.
Additionally the disk manufacturer's diagnostics have been
run on this drive and it detected no surface or sector
errors.

How can I get XP to stop running chkdisk every time it
boots?

All service packs and critical updates have been applied
to this system also

Whenever XP is not shutdown correctly, Chkdsk is indicated to run at next
start up.

Does the computer shutdown correctly?

I found the problem. AOL is setting chkdisk to run after
I attempt to uninstall previous versions of it. The error
message says that an AOL unistall file is corrupt on the
root drive and that chkdisk needs to be run. Then it
unistalls it anyway but forces chkdisk on the next boot.
I think I've finally got AOL uninstalled and reinstalled
for my customer, so chkdisk should not run now.
