chipmunk voices

I have recently bought new speakers after my old ones died. Unfortunately,
now cds, mpegs, even conversations with MSN messenger, have people sounding
like chipmunks.

I've done all the trouble shooting questions but nothing seems to help.
Maybe it's a sound card problem?

What is you make/model of the sound card? I know that on Sound Blaster
Audigy cards, the drivers have a special feature which you can set so that
voices sound like "chipmunks".

I'm not too certain on how to find out but I think it's "Realtek AC'97 Audio"
??

Sorry, I'm good at using computer programs just know little about hardware.

Finally.... I fixed the problem it was simply a case of going to the realtek
website and updating the drivers. As soon as I did that, everything was cool
and fruity.
