"checking file system on /F"

My friend has a fairly new Toshiba laptop. For some time now it starts the
boot with a CHKDSK type screen that says "Checking file system on F:" and it
runs and shows the same info that chkdsk does. I am unable to find why this
starts as it does. I have run chkdsk /f and /r and no errors or problems
were found. How can I stop this from appearing every time it is booted?
TIA, Dick

What is Drive F? If it is just a logical parition in the hard drive,
then backup its contents and delete the logical partition. Re-boot the
computer. Create a new logical partition, Drive F, using Disk Manager,
including formatting it. This should eliminate the message.

In addition to Ghostrider's question take a look at Kelly's site,

"Check Disk - Disk Checking Runs Upon Boot" for some troubleshooting tips.
