There is an executive employee here that needs me to get check names working
for him in outlook 2003. The feature is turned on but it doesnt do it
automatically.

(It's Tools > Options > Preferences > Email Options... > Advanced Email
options > Automatic Name checking.)

He claims that it always used to do it automatically. It works fine on mine
so I dont know why it won't for him. I did try checking names manually on his
outlook though and it did work so the feature is working its just not being
done automatically like it should be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

What exactly is not happening "automatically" that he thinks should? If the
name is already fully resolved, he won't see anything happen.

When he composes a new email and types the reciepient in the to box the name
does not get underlined which is what the check names should be doing. Once
the name is underlined he can add it to his addressbook which is the goal.

Thanks,

What happens instead and how is he invoking autoresolution? Have you
verified that the Outlook Address Book Service is connected to his Contacts
Folder(s) and that a match exists?

This is when he types in a new email that he has never typed before.
Currently the email is there in the to box and nothing happens. With auto
check names it is supposed to underline so it can be right clicked on and the
options show up there. This is currently how it works with outlook on my pc
when I type in a new address like (e-mail address removed) it will underline
in a matter of a few seconds.

Any valid email address will resolve. Is he typing a valid email address? Is
the Outlook Address Book Service installed and functioning correctly?

Yes the email address is valid but how can I see if the outlook address book
service is installed and functioning correctly?
