changing the status of a member server

If you configure a server as a "member server" added to
an AD structure. Can you change the status of the member
server to a standalone server instead?

Can you move a member server from 1 AD to another?

I'm just looking for other benefits bringing up a server
as a member server (running Oracle) verses a DC. I only
have 1 DC now...I know I badly need another.

Thanks

Hi Mark,

A 'member server' in this context means any server OS
joined to a domain that is not a DC. That is, any
machine running Windows server, (Server, Advanced Server,
Datacenter, etc.), that is joined to a domain, but is not
a DC is a 'member server'.

You can move such a member server to another domain
simply by joining it to the other domain - or move it to
a workgroup by joining a workgroup. This is the same as
you would do with a client SKU, (like XP Pro).

Hope this helps,
