Changing the N/w card after activation

Hi,

I have Windows XP professional version.

I am thinking of changing my n/w card replacing it with a firewire+USB+n/w
card combo. I have already activated my version. Will I be able to change it
without reactivation or do I need to reactivate it?

Thanks,

Rohit

I believe that changing the network card will not require reactivation.
Requiring reactivation is based on a point system, and unless you've changed
other components a network card will not put you over the limit.

It is very unlikely that you will have to reactivate. The need to
reactivate is triggered only if you make a bunch of hardware
changes within a 120-day period.

And even if you do have to reactivate, it's quick and easy, and
doesn't represent a problem.

JUst replace it. Unless you have also made changes in several other
categories of hardware there will be no need to re-activate. But
because the original NIC carries extra weight in determining the
activation state, I would suggest you retain that and *add* a second
card. See more at www.aumha.org/win5/a/wpa.htm
