Changing primary routing device under XP

After recently using a wireless network (routing out to the internet) at the
same time as a Crossover cable Windows XP seems to have changed the primary
routing device to the Wireless card so whenever the wireless card is plugged
in it tries and connects using that device. Is there any way to change it
back to using the Ethernet adaptor as the default routing device?

When multiple network connections can access a LAN or Internet site,
Windows XP uses the connection with the lowest associated metric
value. Assign a metric to each connection, giving a lower value to
the wired connection. To assign a metric to a network connection:

1. Open the Network Connections folder.
2. Right click the desired connection.
3. Click Properties | Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
4. Click Properties | Advanced.
5. Un-check "Automatic metric".
6. Enter a number between 1 and 9999 for the "Interface metric".
