Changing OS from XP to 98??

My computer originally had windows 98 when I purchased it. Recently I
upgraded to XP. It was running fairly well in the beginning, but now it just
goes extremely slow and my internet crawls. Granted I have dialup 56k modem,
but my internet connection was never this slow before.

Every time I open internet exporer I see iexplorer.exe running in the
background.

Basically XP is making my computer perform crummy, and I want to go back to
98 until I can a.) get the money for upgrades on my computer (more RAM,etc)
or b.) buy a new computer/laptop all together.

Now how do I do this? Somoene told me to just go to my add/remove programs
list..but I don't understand what I'm supposed to do.

Go to control panel, add/remove program and click on Windows XP and then
click the button on the right called change/remove. Follow the wizard, once
finished your windows XP will be uninstalled completely.

But ONLY if the OP chose to keep the old OS files on upgrade. If the OP
didn't, then it's a question of booting using a W98 floppy boot disk,
Fdisking the HDD and re-installing W98.

If it was running fairly well at the begining then the op should look at why
its not right now. Check for spyware malware viruses etc. What programs are
loading componants at startup. Type msconfig in the run box on the start
menu and disable all the items in the startup tab. See how XP is running
then start the items you really need at startup. What are the specs of the
machine. I have just put XP on a Pentium 3 450MHz with 320mb ram and its
running fine. XP is far superior to any of the 9x series.

The normal way to "uninstall" any operating system is to format
the hard drive and install a new OS of your choice.

Only if you performed an upgrade from Win98/Me, elected to backup
the old system files, and didn't convert the partition to NTFS, can
you then boot into Safe Mode and click Start > Control Panel

Add/Remove Programs. All of these conditions must be met for the

uninstall option to be available.
