Changing IRQ of PnP device

Pursuant to my 'long pause after connecting to internet' problem,
which was briefly helped by turning the power management off on the USB
hubs in the device manager, I find myself wondering if the fact that my
modem and USB system share the same IRQ (#24) might be an issue. I'd
like to change the IRQ that my modem uses (Lucent WinModem) so as to
check on this, but I don't see a way to do it. I see a message on the
Resources tab telling me that only the Truly Blessed should consider
changing it, but I don't see a way to actually *do* it.
Anyone?

You turn off 'standby' features (ACPI) to get the IRQ edit, but I doubt you could find enough IRQ's manually to do all you want. Try
turning off Power Management on the NIC device too.

Are you saying that it's all or nothing? You can't tell Windows to
use a particular IRQ for a particular device unless you shut PnP right
off and set *all* IRQs manually?

If the modem is the NIC device then power management is already
disabled. I took a quick look through and couldn't find any devices
that still had power management enabled.

You used to be able to get a report that listed devices and their
resources in Win 3.11 and other pre-PnP oldies. Can you still get that
report in XP? That would probably make my life easier if I go the
manual route.

Thanks for the reply,
