changing from DSL to cable modem

I'm not sure I have enough info. to for an answer, but here goes: my husband
has remote access to his home computer (XP Pro) from his office computer. I
did not set this up or know anything about the setup. We are changing from
DSL to cable modem and would like to know if the process of connecting the
two computers using the IP address would remain the same.
