Changing Domain Name

I'm currently trying to join several NT4 PDCs to a single Win 2000 AD domain.
I'm able to upgrade a PDC to Win 2K. What I'd like to then do is add the W2K
server to the new 2000 AD domain, as a member server. I realise this would
lose my NT SAM database (this is not a problem as I am able to migrate all
objects with ADMT). I'd then be able to DCPROMO the server and configure it
as an additonal DC for my single AD domain.
So, my question basically is:
After upgrading a PDC to W2K, is there any way of changing its domain
membership (without running DCPROMO)?
(Running DCPROMO would only allow me to create a new domain or create a
child domain).

Many thanks

If I'm following you right you want to upgrade a NT 4.0 PDC to Win 2k and
then add it to another Win 2k domain as a member server?

After upgrading to Win 2k you could run dcpromo to remove AD and make it a
standalone server and add it to the second AD domain.
But if you are not worried about the SAM of the NT PDC you could just format
and install Win 2k on it, if you don't run dcpromo it will be a
standalone/member server.
