Changing an Excel link - same file, different worksheet?

Chris P Bacon

Hi, hope someone can help and save me a shedload of time.

I have a Powerpoint presentation that has dozens of links to an Excel
workbook. It's all charts and graphs which I've painstakingly resized and
positioned in my presentation.

I have to create another seven of these presentations (it's to do with sales
in different regions of the UK). Now, if I try to edit links, the only
option I seem to have is to select a file......but all the information is in
one Excel workbook with a different worksheet used for each region. The
worksheets are identical in layout.

Is there a way I can force Powerpoint to look at the same workbook and
select the sheet I need? Otherwise, I'm going to have to manually
copy/paste special everything and then resize and reposition, which takes
hours :-(

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi, is it possible only to change a part of the file name?
For example I just want to change from this path:
C:\...\Base HSC Genérico.xls!Gráficos Mcdo![Base HSC Genérico.xls]Gráficos
Mcdo Gráfico 10
Base HSC Genérico.xls for Base HSC Genérico GBA.xls

neither of the solutions by VBA code have worked. I've also installed
Shyam's toolbox and doesn't wor either.
Thanks!

Hi Steve,
The full path for the file is:

C:\Data\luciana.padua\HC\Diagnóstico\Genérico\HSC\Bases\Bases HSC Genérico.xls

and then I have many charts and tables linked to the same file. For example:
C:\Data\luciana.padua\HC\Diagnóstico\Genérico\HSC\Bases\Base HSC
Genérico.xls!Gráficos Mcdo![Base HSC Genérico.xls]Gráficos Mcdo Gráfico 2

I have done all the charts in the same worsksheet because I need them in a
small format, so that's why I haven't used a sheet for each one. Besides they
are too many and I didn't want to have that amount of sheets.

If you can help me it would be great! thanks!!

That got a little jumbled. Can you re-send the current full file name and
what you want to change it to? Thanks.

I will have 7 identical files, the only thing that changes is the sales area,
so whereever it says Bases HSC Genérico.xls
I will put Bases HSC Genérico GBA.xls in the first file,
Bases HSC Genérico CUyo.xls y the second and so on.
This is just for one time, then I'll have each chart with its correspondant
link.
Thanks for your attention!

OK. And what do you want to change it TO?
